COFGA’s First Christmas Party

December 14 was a red-letter day for COFGA as it marked its first Christmas party since its founding over a year ago in September 2006.

Although some were not able to come due to some reasons, the affair was nonetheless a resounding success with the whole set of inductees including the members of the Board and officers were in full force.

Leading the attendees were Mr. President himself and other officers including Lea Villegas, Nilo Villaflor, Vin Jayme, Mar Carloman, Jorge Matig-a, and Mr. Veep Momong Marimbao who gladly took the challenge to be the Master of the Ceremonies and he did it effectively.

Among the regular members who attended the party were the Board members Gabe Deligero, Desiderio Benitez, Rudy Monleon, and this author.

Also present during the event were Pompee, Michael, Art, Dr. Sato, and Vin Jayme Jr. I’d like to apologize to those who came whose names I inadvertently failed to mention. Nevertheless, the association as a whole appreciates your presence.

What was funny though was that the atmosphere was more like a regular meeting than a Christmas party as there was no single adornment or trimming that signified Christmas, not even a Christmas carol from our sound system, saved for Mar and Lea who donned in red shirt.

Call me a liar but I must say food is the centerpiece of every Christmas party. Honestly, the food was great and being farmers ourselves who have great passion in eating, we helped ourselves taking turns in filling up our plates like hyenas with grumbling stomach drooling on the ambrosial fare on the buffet table.

But still the main objectives of the event was to gather all members and celebrate our first year anniversary as an association and share in the banquet the small blessings that we have for the past year.

We’re looking forward to a fruitful year ahead and hope for a second Christmas party in 2008!

Here’s to us all! Cheers!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
