Overnight in Dumanjug on April 14

I’d like to remind the group that we will have our trip to Dumanjug on April 14, a Saturday. Mark your calendar so that you won’t have an excuse that you miss the date.

However, Nilo proposed that we stay overnight there to enjoy the place more. He suggested that we set up camp along the beach and fish at night using gas lantern. It was indeed a great idea. Staying overnight there would also allow us to discuss more on matters relevant to our future plans for our Association.

See you there!

Off to Mulao, Compostela

The trip to Mulao, Compostela last March 24 was rather fun, traversing the national highway from Wireless in Mandaue to Compostela town. The early morning breeze kept the trip relaxing and enjoyable in the first half of the trip unitl we made a left turn and began our climb along a winding but well-paved road to Mulao, a hinterland barangay more than ten kilometers from the national highway. The scorching heat of the midmorning summer sun surely would have burned my skin if I didn’t put on a generous amount of sunblock as I was at the back of the vehicle exposing myself out of the canopy.

Before I forget, I’d like to thank Mr. Boy Mondragon for lending us his mini pick-up van with a driver – himself no less! This guy deserves not only a pat in the back but maybe an acknowledgment or endorsement if he decides to run for a public office.

We arrived in Mulao half past nine. Not wanting to miss a beat, the group set off for a survey of Moreno’s expansive estate. Honestly I was overwhelmed by the wide expanse of the property. Impressive! Check out the photo here. No, the mountain looming in the background is not his, if you wonder.

I love the place. The soil was indeed suitable for agriculture. Although the scorching summer sun has baked the soil, there was an indication that crops would do very well if given proper management.

If I had my way, I’d like to have our demo farm located there. I can tell that the place is conducive to growing high-value crops and raising poultry birds and livestock. The only downside was that the place was not easily accessible from public transport aside from habal-habal. But other than that, I should say, it was a great place!
