COFGA has just acquired a TIN from the BIR courtesy of Mar ‘The Man’ Carloman. Without TIN we couldn’t receive any financial assistance from outside source. So COFGA, thru the effort of Mar Carloman, hastily filed for application for TIN after getting approval from the Securities & Exchange Commission of our organization’s registration sometime in late January this year.

Mar Carloman, ‘The Man’
The soft-spoken tennis buff is ever reliable. Just like a battery, he’s ever ready.
In behalf of the Association, I’d like to thank Mar Carloman for his indefatigable effort to help the Association afloat, so to speak. He’s our very competent Treasurer and he definitely has what it takes to be an effective leader and an able member as well.
His latest accomplishment was the securement of TIN for COFGA. For that effort, he deserves an ear-shattering applause when we get to meet in our next meeting to show him our sincere gratitude.
Meeting tomorrow, April 14, 2007
I’d like to remind everyone that we’ll have our special meeting tomorrow, Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Mr. Dabucol’s office inside DA compound. Agenda include our application for TIN to BIR, submission of our personal datasheet to Lea Villegas as required in our application for accreditation from DA Regiona 7, and possibly our trip to Dumanjug to scout a site for our planned demo farm.
Also, copies of the proposed by-laws by Mr. Vin Jayme will be distributed to each one of us so as to study it for its inclusion in our own internal by-laws.
Everyone is expected to attend the meeting. Your presence in every meeting will fortify our association as one solid organization. See you there!
Where do we go from here?
Hmm……..wait. Let me think.
Okay. Where are we going? Where do we go from here? Chaos or community? Of course, nobody wants chaos. Who does?
Not so long ago, one of our members asked me where our Association is heading for? I didn’t know if his question really needed an answer. More so, I didn’t know if he wanted me to answer it. I was really caught off guard. Before I could say anything, he clarified that it was ambiguous to him as to the objective of COFGA. Indeed, he really wanted an answer from someone. I looked around. I couldn’t see someone else close to his ears. So I surmised he was talking to me.
Meeting last night
Thanks for your presence in our meeting last night at Mr. Carloman’s residence. I’d like to personally thank Mar for his hospitality for allowing us to hold our meeting in his ‘hut’. The humility that Mr. Carloman showed us was an understatement calling his palatial ‘white house’ a hut. And the ensaymada actually appeased my churning stomach as our meeting dragged on past 10:00 p.m. I wonder if Mar actually noticed me that I was starving. Yes, I had my fill an hour before I left home for the meeting and I usually eat after every four to five hours.
Nevertheless, it was a fruitful meeting and all important matters on the agenda were discussed. I was just a bit surprised by Mr. Ben’s impromptu deliberation of the proposed by-laws. That actually kept the meeting dragged on for over two hours. I can’t blame Mr. Ben. Kudos to you, Mr. Ben for the job well done.
The meeting was adjourned a few minutes to 11:00 p.m. Our next meeting will be on Saturday, April 14, 2007 back at the DA coumpound along M. Velez St. in Cebu City.
Meeting today, April 9, 2007
Our meeting today will be held at Mr. Carloman’s residence at San Antonio Village at 7:00 p.m. Assembly time shall be around 6:30 to 6:50 at the vicinity of Chowking Restaurant in Gaisano Country Mall. Agenda include the Association’s application for accreditation to the Provincial Board of Cebu and our planned trip to Dumanjug this Saturday, April 14, 2007 to look for a possible site for our demo farm. I hope to see you guys tonight!
Oh, didn’t I say you have to fill up your tummy before leaving home? If only you could spare a crispy roast suckling pig for the whole gang, that would be great!
Organic farming for a better future
Organic farming has been practised probably since man learned to cultivate the soil for food. That means thousands of years ago. Sure, ancient civilisations such as the Sumerians, Mesopotamians, Assyrians, Babylonians, Chinese, Elamites, didn’t have any idea as to what nitrate or phosphate or sulfate was. Neither did they know what organic elements were such as nitrogen, potassium or phosphorous.
The method of farming that came to be known today as ‘conventional farming’ was actually not introduced until the wartime world where food was scarce. In order to feed the millions of hungry populations, especially during and after WWII, food production should be quick and abundant. Thus the introduction of synthetic fertilizers and farm mechanizations..
Proposed integrated demo farm
Being a member of the Research & Development committee of our Association I did a lot of research ranging from crops and livestock to establishment of integrated organic farm and its sustainability for future generations.
While we are awaiting funds, we have the luxury of time to make a thorough study and proper planning on the kind of project that the Association is going to undertake. I am certain though that we are going to put up an integrated organic farm where we can raise both crops and livestock in one designated area.
Have a Blessed Good Friday to everyone!
Almost the whole Christendom is celebrating the passion of Jesus Christ on the cross today. To most of us, Catholics, today is the day of forgiving, penance and reflection. To forgive those who sin against us seems like a hard thing to do, but when you realize that the son of God died on the cross for our sins, we have no reason at all why we can’t do the same to fellow mortals.
May everyone have a blessed Good Friday!
Praise to You, oh, Lord Jesus Christ!
